City of Montgomery to Demolish Former Governor’s House Hotel; BDW Architects Named on Project
Montgomery has announced the demolition of the long-vacant Governor’s House Hotel & Convention Center as part of a broader $6 million commercial demolition plan to address blighted sites across the city. The initial project’s demolition cost is estimated at $279,000 and has been contracted to TOA LLC, with BDW Architects serving as the architect.
Why it matters: clearing unsafe, obsolete properties paves the way for safer streets, economic growth, and future development opportunities in key corridors. For our team, this is another chance to pair practical planning with community-minded design that supports long-term revitalization.
“This property has been abandoned for some time,” said Chief Building Official Marcus Dean.
